Arsenal, dissappointers as usual :(

The Game

Will this nightmare ever end? Yet again we do exceptionally well to take a good lead and then, yes, then what? Raise your hand if at 1-3 you thought the game was over.

Flash news – we have just lost the second place in the table. On goal average record, but we did. And I will be honest – based on what we have seen in the second half today, Spurs not only deserved to level things up but deserved to take all three points.

Simply put, they were more dangerous in the final third and looked more determined and more hungry to win the game. Andrey Arshavin coming on and walking in the last part of the game is the picture of why we will not win the title this season.

And it’s sad, it’s sad because Abou Diaby should have done better to challenge Rafael van der Vaart when they equalised, it’s sad because Cesc Fabregas should have done better with the clearance when they scored the second and it’s sad because there was no need for Wojciech Szczesny to leave his goal and challenge Aaron Lennon like that.

Theo Walcott – before the game – was saying how tough it was to lose the game at the Emirates, saying that they desperately needed to win today as an apology to the fans for what happened in November. Well Theo, you all tried, but for 45 minutes. You then went to sleep and this is unacceptable.

For one second I thought we were going to take the lead in stoppage time as it would have been funny, a sort of ‘Let’s see if you learned the lesson’ after what happened Sunday. But it wasn’t meant to be. At this stage it seems the best way to beat Arsenal is to let them take a two-goal lead and then adopt an all-out-attack philosophy knowing that sooner or later there will be a mistake in the defensive department, as it was the case today.

I don’t know what else to add. Only months ago some were making fun of Chelsea for dropping points week-in, week-out but as it’s always the case, we should first of all focus on our own weaknesses before even dreaming of looking at those of others.

Arsene Wenger after the game said that we were “very unfortunate to concede the penalty” and that the “mental strength is outstanding”. I say that for once it would be nice if our manager opts to not mention the mental strength of the team after every game, especially after a game in which we had a two-goal cushion.
